Open Data

We publish the underlying datasets behind RoofingCalculatorHQ as openly licensed CSVs so researchers, journalists, and other calculator builders can use them without paying for industry reports.

Methodology

Each row points back to a primary public source — trade associations (NRCA, NFRC, ZVDH, CAPEB, Master Builders Australia, CRCA, ABRAS, Confartigianato), engineering standards (SMACNA Architectural Sheet Metal Manual, AS/NZS 3500.3, IRC R905), and consumer-facing pricing surveys. We compile and normalise the figures; we do not generate synthetic data.

Cost figures are stated in local currency for the relevant market — never USD-converted, since exchange-rate noise distorts cross-market comparison. Pitch and slope figures are derived from first-principles trigonometry (angle = arctan(rise / run); slope factor = sec(angle)).

Datasets

Roof replacement costs by material and locale (per m², 2026)

Per-square-metre cost ranges for asphalt, metal, and tile roof replacements across 10 markets in local currency. Sourced from NRCA (US), NFRC (UK), Master Builders Australia, CRCA (Canada), ZVDH (Germany), CAPEB (France), ANDIMAT (Spain), Confartigianato (Italy), Eigen Huis (Netherlands), and ABRAS (Brazil).

Columns: locale, currency, asphalt_per_sqm_low, asphalt_per_sqm_high, metal_per_sqm_low, metal_per_sqm_high, tile_per_sqm_low, tile_per_sqm_high, source, last_updated

Roof pitch reference table (X/12 ↔ degrees ↔ slope factor)

Conversion table between X-over-12 imperial pitch notation, angle in degrees, and slope multiplier (used to compute true roof area from footprint). Includes typical use case for each pitch from low-slope membrane up to A-frame and spire pitches.

Columns: pitch_xover12, angle_degrees, slope_factor, common_use_case

Gutter sizing by roof area (SMACNA / AS/NZS 3500.3)

Recommended gutter diameter (mm) and downspout count by roof catchment area. Cross-references the SMACNA Architectural Sheet Metal Manual sizing tables (US) and AS/NZS 3500.3 (Australia/New Zealand).

Columns: roof_area_sqm, recommended_gutter_size_mm, downspouts_required, source_standard

Updates

Cost data is refreshed quarterly as new market reports are published. Standards references are updated when the underlying code or manual is revised. The last_updated column on each row records the verification date.
